In 2019 women going through menopause are having a very different life experience to their mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers.
As 21st Century women in our mid-life, we are generally much more chronically stressed for many reasons…. We have kids when we are a little older so may go through menopause at the same time as we have teenagers. Or we have elderly or ill parents who rely on us, life seems more and more expensive so financial strains on the family and of course the pressures we put on ourselves to continue being everything to everyone, sometimes missing ourselves out of that equation!
Even if we can’t always make changes to fundamental stresses going on around us, we do have the power to alter those stresses we physically put into and onto our bodies: caffeine, alcohol, foods that we are intolerant to, pesticides, toxins, refined sugars, hormone disrupting chemicals.
When you start to feel conscious that you have the tools to make changes in your life it is very EMPOWERING.
Use food as medicine. Use nutrition to your advantage.
